The Grand Sport legend began in 1963, when Corvette godfather Zora Arkus-Duntov ordered up five hand-assembled prototype race cars designed to take on all comers. the newest chapter starts now, with the introduction of the 2010 Grand Sport Coupe and Convertible. under the Corvette Z06-inspired wide-body styling, Corvette Grand Sport bristles with race-bred technology. The tracks are wider, front and rear. suspension tuning is more aggressive, with stiffer springs, firmer dampers and larger stabilizer bars. The braking system – originally developed for the Z06 – features cross-drilled rotors and six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers. The Grand Sport five-spoke aluminum wheels sport massive Goodyear® Eagle® f1 Supercar tires. When you choose the Grand Sport Coupe equipped with the six-speed manual transmission your car will also include a dry-sump oil system that will ensure the 430-horsepower ls3 v8 gets the lubrication it needs, even during the most aggressive cornering and braking manoeuvres. Think lateral acceleration of 1.0g and a run from 0 to 96 km/h (0 to 60 mph) in just 3.95 seconds. and a quarter-mile time of just 12.3 seconds at 188 km/h (117 mph).
